RECOMMENDED TO: Bar Scene, Couples, Small Groups, Large Groups, Romantic Dining.ĪMBIENCE: Trendy/Classy/Romantic/Zen-likeīetween my husband and I, we enjoyed 2 drinks each. Yes, I know I dream big, but even though I never went on a shopping spree to Bloomies, I had the most amazing birthday surprise dinner at Tao, my absolute favorite place in Manhattan. I thought you were taking me to Bloomies on a shopping spree, but this works too." He sighed! I exclaimed back, "No, we're going to Tao. We're just passing by, we're going someplace else." I exclaimed, "We are going to Tao?" He responded, "No. And then I came face to face with those magical 3 letters - T-A-O! Say what? But, but, but… Bloomies is this way.Īs I unwillingly walked towards 58th and came face to face with him, he grabbed my hand and led the way east on 58th street. I was psyched! He was going to be romantic and thoughtful and blah blah blah!Īfter a 10 minute downpour and patiently waiting under my umbrella, I received a text message from my husband asking me to come towards 58th and Lex. My presumptuous self figured he was probably taking me to Bloomingdales, also on 59th and Lex, so I could pick out my birthday gift. My husband emailed me asking to meet him on 59th and Lexington. The music, decor, and colorful Mediterranean cuisine offer vacation-like vibes. It was the best birthday *surprise* dinner. Though the food is delicious, we wouldn’t be surprised if most people go to Santina for the atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for window service tacos or a subterranean sit-down experience, La Esquina is always a good choice. Things are looking up! But really, long waits never kept anyone away from that juicy burger, and they never will. THE SPOTTED PIG | WEST VILLAGEĥ years ago, you might have had to wait 3-4 hours before sitting to eat at The Spotted Pig. Based on its placement on this list, it would appear New Yorkers have embraced Acme’s new identity. What was once a popular Nordic restaurant is now a French-Italian bistro. We wouldn’t be surprised if it made it to a top 15 list among Uber riders every week. ABC KITCHEN | UNION SQUAREĪBC Kitchen has definitely established itself as a staple in the NYC restaurant scene. ![]() Good thing they all knew where to find the best. Looks like a lot of New Yorkers were craving red meat last week. We already discovered that Balthazar reigns as #1 when it comes to brunch, but now we see that its popularity continues throughout the week, at all times of day. Favorite dishes include the truffle and fontina pizza and the burger. This SoHo restaurant has remained popular among New Yorkers since it opened in the late ’90s. This popular Meatpacking destination attracts big groups looking for a dinner-to-dancing night out on the town. ![]() LOCANDA VERDE | TRIBECAīoth a neighborhood favorite and New York favorite, Locanda Verde gets it right-every time. Based on the number of people riding there just last week, it would appear the new concept is a hit. ELEVEN MADISON PARK | FLATIRONĪs of 2 weeks ago, the award-winning restaurant has revamped its menu, now offering minimalist dishes as opposed to a theatrical experience. Whether they go for the food or the dancing, it’s clear this LES hotspot is still hot. New Yorkers have been flocking to this restaurant-turned-nightclub for years. Since all 3 of these restaurants share the same address, it’s tough to say which one attracted the biggest crowd last week. TORO / DEL POSTO / COLICCHIO & SONS | CHELSEA Good thing the restaurant has 3 dining rooms and 360 seats to pack in the crowds. It’s only been open for 3 weeks, but Vandal has already positioned itself as the most popular restaurant among New York Uber riders. Vandal is the uber-cool (see what we did there?) new restaurant by the same team who brought us LAVO and TAO. To find out where the masses were dining, we looked at anonymized trip data between Friday, January 25, and Sunday, January 31. Last week, some restaurants in particular stole the attention of hungry New Yorkers. And with uberX rates ,exploring those options is now more affordable than ever. One of the benefits of living in New York City is having access to endless dining options. ![]()
